How it started: Two cats, one impossible list

Before GD-Meow had a name, it had a list. A note on a phone, actually, titled "Things we keep buying and hating."

It started small. A donut bed that went flat in two weeks. A food bowl that skidded across the floor every time Mochi ate too fast. A self-warming mat that never seemed to warm. Every item had a one-star review from the two cats who actually had to live with it.

Mochi, our orange tabby, treats every new object like a crime scene. She sniffs it, kneads it, and—if it offends her—knocks it off the nearest surface. Latte, our silver shorthair, is the exact opposite. He will sleep on anything warm, quiet, and soft enough to ignore. If Latte walks away from a bed, it is dead to us.

We kept that list for almost a year. Then we realized we were not the only cat parents filling drawers with failed purchases. So we started asking: What would a brand look like if it were designed by the cats first?

That question became GD-Meow. Not a marketing story. A real list, written by two cats, that we are still checking off today.

"Every product starts as a complaint. The good ones stay because the cats stop complaining."

From list to line

The first entries on the list were practical. "Bed loses shape." "Bowl slides." "Mat smells weird after one wash." But as the list grew, patterns appeared. The products that failed usually had three things in common: they were pretty online but cheap in person, they shipped from warehouses we could not locate, and they were designed for people, not cats.

We decided to flip that. Every GD-Meow product starts with a problem from the list. Then we ask Mochi and Latte to solve it. They are not consultants. They are the decision-makers.

Why we tell this story first

Some brands start with a founder in a garage. We started with two cats on a kitchen floor. The garage came later. The list is still open.

If you have ever bought a cat product and felt disappointed, you are the reason we exist. We are not trying to impress you with design awards. We are trying to make sure your cat stops giving you that look.
